Anyway, it's been interesting - all the suggestions and comments from various people have been noted, and so far the improvements have been: 1) optimizer doesn't break this code example any more; 2) code generator will use decfsz for equivalent C code 3) bank bit settings are optimized out of the loop 4) suggestion for "hands-off" flag is being looked at to implement.
