Digi-key sells little SMT protoboards made by Capital Advanced Technologies; you get a little prototyping space and a pad for an SOIC (or other type of SMT part); the board has pins of the same type as on a DIP IC, so you can plug them into a SIP socket, or solder them into a 0.1" grid protoboard or even stick them into a solderless breadboard. They cost from $1 to $8 each, depending; one for an SOIC-8 runs about $4. You can see a PDF of Digi-key's catalog page for these parts here: http://www.digikey.com/CC/475.PDF --Bob On Fri, May 21, 1999 at 07:04:56AM +1000, Des Bromilow wrote: > Hi, > Can anyone offer a sugestion as to something I can use to allow me to breadboa rd with a 8 SOIC (The 8 pin SMT package). > > I'd prefer something cheap and preferably available in Australia. > > Thanks, > Des Bromilow -- ============================================================ Bob Drzyzgula It's not a problem bob@drzyzgula.org until something bad happens ============================================================
