>>I plan on prototyping with some Atmel DataFlash parts this summer. They >>only come in SOIC and TSOP packages. Which is easier to socket for >>prototyping? >> Also try in Las Vegas. They build adapters for just about everything--including programming sockets for the TSOP parts for use with a Picstart. Always get the "C" clamp style if it is available. grabs the pins top and bottom. Great stuff, been using them for a couple of years. Talk to MILOS if you have any problems. They can also build up custom adapters from off-the-shelf parts with a one day turn. REMEMBER--some PIC parts change their pin out going from DIP to SOIC to TSOP!!!! I'm looking for a way to mount an 8-pin DIP to a 8-pin SOIC pattern on a PCB. EDI has a solution for about $35--anyone know of anything cheaper? Don't need a plug to change the headers--this is a "permanent" fix to fit a part that is not available in SOIC. **************************************************************************** ******** All legitimate attachments to this email will be clearly identified in the text.
