I don't know why anyone would flame you for
describing the kind of engineering decisions we
all have to make every day.  To me good
engineering is trying to keep 5 balls in the air
when you are only capable of juggling 4.  Which
one goes splat on the floor?  Cost,
power consumption, reliability ...

It all depends on the application and the
constraints involved.
