Right, thanks for that, but I am not looking for alternative methods of
communication other than telemetry.

I am really after a cheap Tx and Rx pair, and want to know how to connect the
Tx and Rx to a PIC.

I dont want to get bogged down in details like the analogue voltage ranges
etc. I just want to know how to get a signal from a Tx to an Rx using PICs /
Telemetry.
