same here, basically. but while i may have forgotten the details, the
general idea of it is still present, and eg. when i read a text about some
strange semiconductor phenomenon with lots of physics and math, i at least
understand what they are talking about. which i wouldn't if i hadn't
learned that back then.

well, then you can say that you don't work in the area you studied for, in
a way. working with hardware you'd probably see more of the bsee stuff.

i learned programming first in a fortran class -- never touched that
language again after that... but the guy who taught it didn't teach only
fortran, he taught more how to go about developing a program, which is not
particular to any language.
