Hello Darren,

  Yes, they are Obsolete (according to Micro-chip).  No, They are still in
use.  That is, the controller that _had_ them will _have_ them, even in a
newer version.  But not allways for _all_ the I/O-ports ...  Just check out
the Data-sheets.  By the way: TRIS commands are efficient, because they do
not need the switching fore-and-back of the SFR-banks.
