|Have you considered X-10.  I use it in my house and it is great.

I have a few X10 items, and I keep having trouble from time to time
whenever I use their wireless remotes.  Even when I change "house" codes,
I still frequently have problems with the remote failing to operate a
device, and sometimes have problems with devices not wanting to remain
switched on or off [turn device off, and a couple seconds later it will
switch back on, or vice versa].  Since I've had the latter problem on
occasion even with the RF transcever unplugged I suspect the device's
"load sensor" (which is supposed to toggle the module's power switch when
the appliance's power is toggled) is getting confused.

Any recommendations for how to troubleshoot annoying X10 stuffs?
