If you don't care about an old color TV, turn it on, and take any strong
magnetic field source such as a soldering gun, a permanent magnet, or a
plugged-in transformer or wall wart.  Wave it around near the screen and
watch the amazing colors.  It's a lot safer than taking drugs.


PS. this is the OPPOSITE of degaussing the TV picture tube, it really screws
it up.  Don't try this if it is your parent's TV as the original poster
asked.
