Hello Michael, you are right. It is rather easy to connect several devices in parallel to divide the dissipation among several devices. Works the same as an emitter resistor in big power supplies. If one transistor carries more current than a fellow transistor, the resistor causes the gate-source voltage to decrease, also decreasing the current through this FET. The only thing you've got to be careful of is avoiding oscillation with multiple FETs. (Some short-wave linear amplifiers use almost similar FETs!!!) But it still is a sound idea.
