I am developing a car audio interface. I am currently using a tone buzzer (quick beeps) as feedback when the user makes parameter adjustments. The problems that exist are: 1. Piezo elements that have their own internal tone generators are harder to find than stand alone Piezo elements. 2. They are more expensive. 3. You are limited by what frequencies that are available from a manufacturer. The PIC I am using in this device has all its PWM channels used. I HAVE though about a multiple 555 circuit. But this adds a bit more extra hardware than I would like. Plus it doesn't have the flexibility that a PIC would have. I was thinking of using an 8-pin PIC to generate a sound effect through a standard piezo element. This way I am not limited to a "beep" sound, which can get annoying. I could simulate a more pleasant sounding "chirp" and have the flexibility of changing pitches or the sound effect itself quite easily. The 8-pin PICs in volume are relatively cheap (About $2). Has anyone used a PIC to create sound effects? Does anyone have any code they would be willing to post that will create a chirp sound? Thanks! ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
