A turned pin header strip soldered to the pins of a ZIF socket. That gives thin pins that will sit firmly in a standard IC socket soldered into the PCB and a ZIF for the micro while it is going in and out of the target. No bent pins, it fits in the eraser, gives you nice access to the pins to clip a scope on and it's a whole lot easier in general.
