Gerhard ISD chips are very likely your best choice unless you want large volume and fixed messages. ISD chips can record but you don't need to provide the support circuitry on borad for this if you don't need it. 20msgs x 4 seconds = 80 seconds = ISD2590 as one choice. You really want to avoid u The ISD25xx family need NO external analog support and in your application need only to be addressed and appropriately "triggered". The newer ISD33xxx series are less pin intensive to control (semi serial interface) but need more analog glue chips for recording and possibly for playback (eg no internal speaker driver). regards Russell McMahon >i've read various messages here from people messing with voice chips. i've >got an application where i need to play 20 messages of 4sec each (recording >is done off-site, and OTP memory would be fine). the customer talked about >individual voice chips, i'm not sure whether this is a requirement >(individually exchangeable) or whether i could use a bigger chip with >addressable messages for all 20 (i'll find that out tomorrow).
