I had a equal experience with the same PIC (2 at about the same time), only
mine gave me a legal Code-protect configuration.  I did not even _use_ the
Code-protect !  (Not with JW parts :-)  I called the sales-person here &
got him so far that he swapped my devices for new ones.  Have not had the
same trouble since  ...  I suspect that a batch of them are faulty ...
