Walling Co., the manufacturer, repairs these free for the first 6 months, then just for a tiny fee ($9.50 plus $3 S&H) - so my suggestion is, if cleaning your tube doesn't do it, call them at 800-338-9813, they'll have good ideas, or will suggest returning the unit. $12.50 for an "as-new" unit is going to beat the price of any other unit on the market I like Walling, they're a decent company. Though my DataRase II's don't have timers, that's the III model I thought? I got a second one, so I can erase many /JW parts at once (I expect to make lots of errors, and I'm a perfectionist ) Mark
