Not Quite. Basica relied on code in the IBM PCs rom to work since the original PC had a version of basic in ROM. The clones never had basic in ROM so needed a more complete version. GWBASIC was a full basic image that was compatible with the IBM version and would run on any system where Basica would run only on IBMs systems.
