Check Maxim or Burr Brown they have some bridge A/D converters.  You could
also use V/F converter.

Hi all,

I need to build a compact load cell which will use a strain guage as the
sensor. The output will be digital and displayed in Newtons, so it will
be a nice little job for a PIC.

I was wondering if anyone knows of a single chip strain guage
conditioner that would have a digital output. I have seen the AD7730 but
it looks overkill for the application.
