not quite... AFAIK, the current date method was put into widespread use in
the usa about 300 or so years ago, and at about the same take, take or give
some, in europe.

and "post-christian"? last time i checked, that was still the dominating
religion there.

one problem with it is, that we're losing infromation that's been gathered
in other cultures and that's getting forgotten in this process of
culturally "taking over."
