Hello,

  I am looking for a type or family of SMPSU controllers that can run a
transformer or transformer-less converter for low (battery < 18V) voltage.
Only control circuitry should be inside, no power at all. Duty cycle
limiting (<50% for transformers), slow turn on, and latching SCP would be
nice.

  Should be in 8 pin SMT SOIC or similar and be available in small
quantities (maybe 1 reel for start).

I know that such beasts exist and are used all the time, and have been for
years, but I can't find any to buy, new ?! any suggestions ?
