Anybody remembering the question about the maximum voltage
allowed for pulling up RA4?

Well, on page 157 of the PIC16F87X manual,
under "absolute maximum ratings", it says "Voltage on RA4 with
respect to Vss...0 to 8.5V".

That's a lot less than the 0..+14V suggested by the midrange manual.
