Subject: [OT] video compression/ ISDN cameras, X75 etc.

Following on for my request for info on ISDN digital telecomms components, on a related theme I am interested to know what is available in digital cameras and for video compression.

Is it possible to buy such a thing as an "ISDN video camera" - ie. a camera that can plug into an ISDN line?  This would need to compress the video data to 64 kb/s (or 128 kb/s if both of the B-channels of a basic rate ISDN service are used).

Which chip sets are available to compress/ decompress video?  Moving pictures are involved but low frame rates would be acceptable.

I am thinking in terms of a project which would transmit security camera pictures over a single 64kb/s B channel.  Ideally, I should also like this same channel to be used to transmit digitised sound and route control data.  This would enable visual and audio monitoring of a remote site with the possibility of controlling the camera pan and tilt motions.

Any ideas?!

I have heard of a protocol called X75 that may be relevant.  Any pointers to this?

Thanks and Regards,
Doug
