Dear Pic Community Its cool that a forum like this exists for the exchange of ideas, info and lessons learned. I'm beginning the development of a home brew compact pic design for a 3 speed triac motor control application and need of some guidance regarding pics and LCD drive. I'm not new to embedded systems, guidance & nav mostly, but new to this type of application using small scale cpus. Design requirements: One line backlite LCD, (Any recommendations on low cost devices & suppliers?) Real time Clock mo, day, yr, time. (Dallas, Epson anybody else ?) 2 A/D for temperature (10-12 bit is more than enough) 7 discretes for a keypad, (simple membrane) 4 outputs for zero crossing opticouplers. Since this is hobby shop application, I'd like to keep it inexpensive. >From the literature, the 12C6xx pic looks like the might fit the bill, but I'm not sure about the LCD or RTC portion. Also, what are suggestions for prom programmers, compilers, etc. ? Thanks in advance.... Mike
