Yes, true; the 1-wire is probably only a good idea if
you are already using 1-wire for something else. One can
also use the DS2480 to offload a bunch of the protocol,
but again that's a lot of hassle unless you're using a
lot of 1-wire. The 3-wire interface might be easier in
many cases, although it dedicates the pins. Nevertheless,
the DS1306 mentioned in another post seems like it may be
even easier to use.
