I often mend/upgrade a varitey of equipment. In my experience there is larger probability of a electrolytic being dried out than a tantalum being damaged. Also a shorted tant is much easier to identify than a wrong value elytic. This is one of the criteria making I most often prefer using tants, selecting to double my operating voltage, except for stages where overvoltage might be a concern where i use elytics.
