I've tried them all, and have the scars. I'm really surprised no-one mentioned Component Software's CS-RCS. I swear by it. SourceSafe is an oxymoron. The P in PVCS stands for painful. SCCS is great, but to the layman it is too much to grasp. RCS same as SCCS, but upside down. What is CVS? So last year, I came across CS-RCS, and it truly makes me happy. It does everything I want, and more. Advantages: Simply right click on a file and up pops a context sensitive menu based on the file's status in the RCS tree. It is full featured and slick. Also, the repository is basic RCS, thus multiple operating systems can use the same tree. CS-RCS even does the line break conversions, gratis! Single user: free! Workgroup: $75/person You really can't beat it! It's also got ZDNet and SoftSeeks Editor's choice awards. http://www.componentsoftware.com
