Sorry- EMC- Electromagnetic Compatibility- generic term for various
European Commission Directives defining, among other things, permitted
emission and susceptibility to emissions for electronic equipment- I
believe the standards are not dissimilar to UL/TUV/VDE etc, and are
designed to stop equipment being affected or affecting the operation of
other equipment.

Testing, or more accurately, a Certificate of compliance with these
standards is required for equipment sold in the European Union, with
various penalties for non-compliance, including seizure of goods etc etc

There are "EMC clubs" in the UK, set up by the Department of Trade and
Industry, but I'm not sure what they actually do... and I presumed other
PIC users in the EU might have had similar experiences and found solutions.
