In this reguard I think that every manufacture has some sort of trouble with getting the device correct until after a large production run. As for the data sheet still being preliminary, well I can think of other semiconductor companies that are the same boat. Nominally the data sheet will not go to final until after the devices have been characterised for some period. To look at it in the other light, you should have known the risks when you first selected the part (Preliminary data), currently you have only found one problem, I don't think that this should give cause to dump the product. So have you informed Microchip of the problem and solution i.e Have you raised a corrective action? And requested a response report? I think that you will find that the company (Like all others) will take your information on board, digest the results, and be very favorable with you. The information that you have gained is from Farnell, Have you looked at Microchip? And asked them the question? There may be the chance that this is a known problem, just that your supplier didn't have the current information. Dennis
