> My copy of the 31 Aug - 1 Sept digest ended at message 37. > Messages 38 to 46, as indicated in the header were missing. ? I also noticed sometimes this problem with piclist digests. The messages are not missing, only "hidden". If one (or more) messages in the digest contains a line composed of *exactly* 32 dash ("-") characters (no other character at the beginning or end of the line), that line is interpreted by MIME as an "end of file", so the other messages in the digest got lost. Sometimes those lines are present in the signature of a message. So, if you have exactly 32 dashes in one line of your signature, PLEASE change that number to any other (avoid also 30 that is message separator), thank you. To solve the "bug" I edit the file containg the digest, searching for the that line and changing it (overwriting one of the dashes with a space is sufficent), being careful to not vary the lenght of the file. Note that the last line of the digest must have 32 dashes. For those using Netscape, here is the method I use: (Warning: it may mess-up the mailbox, do it carefully!) 1) When I receive the piclist digest in my Inbox, as first thing I check that there aren't missing messages. This is easily done, clicking on the "paper clip" button, counting the number of "envelopes" (every row has ten icons) and comparing with the number of messages stated at the beginning of the digest. If they are the same, OK, otherwise: 2) Select menu "File"->"Compress Folders" (this steps avoid garbage when editing the file) 3) Exit Netscape Messenger (not necessary, but safer) 4) Edit the Netscape "Inbox" file as above mentioned with an ascii editor (your path will probaby be "C:\Program Files\ Netscape\Users\YOUR_NAME_MAY_VARY\"). Notes: 4a) the editor must be capable of loading files bigger than 64kB (Notepad can't, a good freeware editor is EmEditor). For extra caution, I make sure not to vary the lenght of file (overwrite the line, don't insert characters). Variyng the lenght may cause problems if messages are indexed, and I don't want to mess-up my mailbox. 4b) DON'T MODIFY the last line of the file, it MUST have 32 dashes, as it is the REAL "end of file". 4c) If you are not sure what are you doing, do a backup copy of the file before editing. 5) When done, save the file, exit from the editor and relaunch Messenger. Now the digest should show all messages. Adriano
