It was quite apt, but I thought terribly unfair to programmers. It's marketing
who demand all those new features ;-) I think the following is more accurate:

A hardware engineer and a software engineer go to a conference with their
manager. While descending a steep hill, the manager discovers his brakes have
failed. Eventually the car is brought to a stop, and all 3 are highly relieved
to have escaped death.

The manager says "We have a contract with a recovery service so we should call
them out". The h/w eng says "no, I think we should investigate the problem, and
fix it". The s/w eng says "hey, it was probably just a glitch, I think we should
carry on and see if it happens again".
