OK, Plan B then! I've been looking at so many designs, and not really being a
hardware guy, I mainly just got confused by all the variants. The Maplin one
looks OK though, the Magenta one was slightly cheaper ;-)

I had a look there, and immediately got confused! There is an "obsolete"
programmer design, but wasn't sure exactly what replaced this. I think for
simplicity I will go with a kit. I'm having difficulty working out what parts I
need for a low cost speed controller as it is!
