Does anyone know of any programming software (for 16C84 mainly) that will run under Windows NT? I've seen comments that programming under Windows is unreliable, is this due to accessing the hardware directly or timing problems? I don't claim to be an expert, but I've had a look at the Microchip data sheets, and it seems that as long you respect the min delays, there should be no problems, the data transfer is synched to the clock line. I've probably misunderstood something though... Anyway, I was going to knock up a cheap serial programmer and have a go at writing some Windows software to drive it. I have the LudiPiPo circuit, but I'm a bit confused as to how TXD is used. Does a particular data pattern need to be sent while programming? Any pointers appreciated.
