Yes it is possible.  Serial interfaces are not that hard on a PIC of
any size.

You are tackling a pretty complex project, though.  Unless you've
worked with other microcontrollers before, I would not make that your
first project.  Try something simple, build up to running LCD's and
keypad matrices slowly.   Have a few successes.
