rem RANT START. So I purchased Myke's book from Amazon.com 2 weeks ago and finally received it today. I figured the book was a bargain at the $31.47US (hardcover) price tag. Then it costs another $5.95US for basic shipping. I'm in Canada, so this works out to about $57CAN! Then when I get the book, Canada Post collects the GST from me and charges me $5CAN for that 'service'. So in total, the book cost me $65CAN!!! Not such a good deal!!!! That's about $20CAN in taxes, shipping, and handling. Myke: Is there a Canadian supplier of your book that you can put a link to on your website, and a warning that Canadian buyers will get screwed by purchasing your book through Amazon.com?! I also purchased another book, The Parallel Port Manual, 2 minutes after purchasing the first one, and it turns out I'll be screwed there too because their one touch ordering doesn't seem to communicate with the shopping cart method, and the books were shipped seperately. I'm really not looking forward to about $20CAN again, for the $28CAN book!!! Unfortunately, I like the convenience of Amazon.com's interface, however I'm not comfortable with bending over for it! It probably wouldn't be so bad if they shipped from Canada. rem RANT OVER. Anyone else been screwed over in this fashion? Any suggestions on tax 'avoidance', shipping/handling reduction, the dreaded exchange rate? Canadian suppliers for high tech books? Craig
