Mine is sort-of working, but I think I am not waiting enough time for
the conversion because I am getting random results around my good
results.

It could be something to do with my implementation too, as I am not
reading as I'm writing.

However, I think this has probably been done before.  Anyone have an
example of something similar I could look at.
