Hi Harold:
Try with the MAXIM portfolio of serial DACs (MAX512, MAX522, etc).
They have a good perfomance, are in 8 DIP & SOIC packages, unipolar or
bipolar power, cheaper, availables on Maxim Web Site www.maxim-ic.com
and 8 bit SPI-interface
