When using an external oscillator, we know that it doesn't matter whether the mode fuse is blown for HS, XT, or LP. For lowest current consumption, LP is the mode of choice. I need access to the system clock frequency (fosc/4). When a PIC is configured to operate with an external RC connected to OSCin, fosc/4 is available at OSCout. Unfortunately, an RC oscillator is _way_ too unstable for my purposes. My questions: Has anyone ever tried programming the fuses for RC oscillation and then used an _external_ oscillator? Is fosc/4 available at OSCout with this configuration? Has it proven reliable? Thanks, Matt
