Hi Keith, The PSP will do all the 12Cxxx parts. The PSP is the recognized best full range PICMicro programmer, able to program the full range of PIC Devices. Now, I'll probably get a number of replies to this statement, but I don't believe that there is any other programmers available that will interface with an IDE (MPLAB) and do the full range of PIC parts. Lewis, Tjaart and Darrell: Tjaart has some good comments and there probably is a good case that the PSP is busted. Lewis, did you ever check to see if signals are coming out of the cable properly? Maybe the cable is bad; it's a straight through 9 pin Male to female D-Shell; maybe a conductor is bad. Darrell; I thought of one other thing that can be done to help insure the serial port is dedicated to MPLAB and that's to do a read of the serial port (ie BaseAddr+0) followed by a write/read to the scratchpad register (at BaseAddr+7) to confirm that MPLAB has allocated the serial port resources in the operating system. Other registers can also be read/written to (such as the "Loop" bit) to make sure the port is allocated. Obviously, I don't know how you are accessing the port, but they're a couple of ideas. myke >Hi, > >I am considering purchasing Picstart Plus but having read the spec in both the >Maplin and Rapid Electronics catalogues there is no mention of 12Cxxx series >of Pic's. > >Can Picstast Plus program these or not? > >The main reason I was considering PSP was because the programmer could >program "All Devices".
