Wolfgang obviously didn't have his regular ten cups of coffee this morning, but he is right that MS Exchange and Outlook produce a bunch of garbage that pure email readers see as attachments or trash text in the message. Unfortunately, only some of it can be turned off from the client. To get it all turned off requires the Exchange or Outlook server settings to be correctly configured, easy if you are running it at home, nearly impossible if you are trying to convince your office network admin to do it for you. Only people using 'pure' email packages (non LAN) such as Eudora or Agent or Pine, etc. will see this trash Incidentally, other LAN mail programs do similar stuff. I am forced to use cc:Mail at work, which as you may notice, adds an attachment turd too. The problem with all these messy mail apps is that the user doesn't realize he or she is annoying everyone else until someone is polite (or annoyed - Wolfgang) enough to let you know what is happening. On top of this, in some cases it is impossible to do anything about it (cc:Mail) or the instructions are buried somewhere the average user could never find (Exchange and Outlook). Author: pic microcontroller discussion list at Internet Date: 6/15/98 11:38 PM Today I received this message from Wolfgang Kynast (wkysag@gmx.de): -- large snip -- >Hi Bo, >once again: PLEASE SWITCH THIS MS-BULLSHIT OFF!!!!!!! >You can do that by diabling 'Microsoft Exchange Rich Text Format' >in the adressbook. >Thanks, >Wolfgang Even though I really don't know what is going on I have now switched off the checkbox he mentions above in my address book. I hope this solves whatever problem you were experiencing with my messages. I am using the Microsoft Exchange ver. 4 mail client and I don't ever recall having any problems with my outgoing mail. Must be some peculiarity with this list server.... Bo
