On the Parallax application handbook you can find a PIC application on
DRAMS.  You can obtain the application by their fax or by their FTP site.

I wish to interface a PIC 17C756 to standard PC DRAM modules for use in a
data logging application.  I intend to used the external data/address ports
and an I/O port to control the upper bits of the address bus, thus allowing
me to access more than 64K.

How do I connect the DRAM to the PIC?  Is it as straightforward as using
SRAM or will I need an intermeadiate controller device, and if so, can
anybody recommend a suitable device.

Is the refresh carried out automatically by the memory or is this a
function of the PIC / memory controller?
