  Truly?  Someone *else* who doesn't think the 555 (or 7555) is the
answer to all designer's prayers?

  Haven't read the article mentioned yet; does it perhaps use rows to
select resistors and columns to select capacitors?  i.e., three caps and
four resistors for a "telephone" pad.
