Generally, Linux binary compatibility is given, if - both systems (source & target) having both a.out (very obsolete) or ELF format - both have the same libc version and the associated stuff. It is not very hard as downward compatibility is ensured. What do you mean with "unix wizard"? I'm working for 3 years with Linux, and there is no wizard. None.
