Maybe also simulate some externals, like UMPS?
(And also that way simulate the on-chip pheriperals?)

(PS have actually not yet used neither UNIX nor UMPS bcause of lack of time
and money respectively, but I put in my last cents anyway because it sounds
interesting... DS)
