Am looking to do the following with a PIC set:

- Develop program in EEPROM version
- Use same code for OTP version
- Need about 1000x ROM bytes for program, data storage
- And about 40x bytes of RAM
- 8 or more I/O's
- Prefer programming in assembler or flavor of Basic (but flexible)
- Prefer PIC manufacturer-provided (i.e. free) assembler/compiler
- Autonomous operation as much as possible in OTP version
  - Minimal external components
  - Internal oscillator
  - Simple (9V?) power requirement for operation
- Anticipated long term availability
- Code privacy provision

Probably obvious from above that I'm a newbie to PICs and perhaps
asking for too much.  Would appreciate comments, suggestions on what
path to take.  Thanks in advance.
