Have you tried RF Solutions ICEPICs - I have several and they emulate at
full speed with trace.  They have different daughter boards to cover the pic
range.

They are well engineered, work with MPLAB or you can use their own ICEPIC
software - which then allows you to have more than one ICEPIC running
together which I need when developing systems that 'talk' to each other.

The best thing is that they work and are very reasonably priced - highly
recommended.
