IrDA has to be implemented in a Stack (See OSI) IrLAP(Link Access protocol handles most of the difficulties)- THen there is IrLMP which handles the connections. It can be very thin, but the trickiest part is that IrDA pulses are 3/16th of the regular USART signals. I can help you some. Kevin E.
