One of the popular 'high-end' pots is the Penny & Giles (sp?), and it isn't cheaper than 32 relays, a handful of resistors, and a handful of transistors. One big problem with inexpensive log pots is interchannel tracking, so you hear the soundstage shift back and forth as you turn the knob. And if you're doing a balanced circuit, you need a pricey, hard to find 4 element unit... newell
