National Semiconducters is discontinouing production of it's LM1893/LM2893 Carrier-Current Transceiver IC's (see their website). Look for PhilipsTDA5051(A) Home automation modem and SGS-Thomson ST7537 Power line modem chips (lots of appnotes and technical background articles on SGS-Thomson's website). I just don't have at hand the URL of the appropiate websites, but it will be easy to find them with Hotbot or Yahoo.
