I know that the 'C84 has EEPROM and how to program one. But I don't know what Flash memory is. Is it the same idea as EEPROM, i.e. it can be programmed, and reprogrammed and retains it memory even when power is removed? Yes. If so, can a 16F84 be plugged into a 16C84 socket with no problem? Yes. Can even be programmed as a 16C84, but leave code protection off, if you want to be able to verify.
