I am (as a fan of amateur video) also very interested about these
applications. VITC timecode reader/generator can be a very interesting
project. There are also couple of other ideas. What about converter between
RS-232 and SONY/PANASONIC protocol for deck control (cutting, frame by
frame animations etc.)
