Yes, they make a CMOS version of this. You can get it from Maxim (MAX490), Linear Technology (LTC490) or Sipex (SP490). I bought a bunch from LTC a few years ago, and they exhibited a fatal CMOS latchup error, which cost my company most of a million dollars by the time we recalled thousands of products to replace the LTC490s. LTC wouldn't even take back the defective parts, claiming that they met the strict letter of the spec. Maxim, on the other hand, makes a wonderful part that we've been using for a long time, and they don't latch up like the LTC parts do. LTC later offered an improved version of the LTC490, which only latched up somewhat less often. Bzzzzzttt... thank you for playing. Sipex, bless their hearts, made a part that exhibited even worse latchup than LTC! Fortunately I was highly paranoid by this point, and tested all proposed vendors for immunity to static discharge in operating conditions. Maxim and the original TI 75176 were the only two which didn't die in interesting and horrible ways. I'd buy the Maxim part....in case you hadn't guessed by now. Mark G. Forbes forbesm@peak.org
